Manufacturer: CIT (France)
Model: 81
Vintage: 1950
Purpose: Wideband Oscilloscope
Condition: Unknown
Comments:
This scope is in very good condition.
The manufacturer is CIT "Compagnie Industrielle des Telephones”, founded in 1946. In 1970 CIT merged with Acatel “Alsacienne de Construction Atomique et de Telecommunication” becoming Alcatel CIT.
The oscilloscope was bought in Poland, together with an accompanying model 55 component tester.
The tube lineup of the scope is CRT 3AP1, 5Y3, 5Y3, 6V6, 884, 6J7. The US type tubes point to a vintage of just after WWII. Most likely there were no local tubes available.
An interesting feature at this scope is a metal swing arm, which can be pivoted in front of the CRT for protection. A very nice feature, I have not seen this at any other scope. Especially necessary in the 21st century with UPS and Fedex.
The component tester, model 55, appears to be a capacitor and resistor bridge to test unknown components.
