Manufacturer: COSSOR (England)
Model: 1049 MK IV, S#???
Vintage: 1959
Purpose: Wideband Oscilloscope, dual channel
Condition: Working
Comments:
This scope is in pristine condition. Still, I was not able to find a serial number. It may have been printed on the front and was removed during a cleaning.
This oscilloscope was originally bought for the undergraduate teaching laboratories in the Physics Department at Birmingham University in the UK in the late 1950's. In fact, it was barely used during its working life, only being turned on to check for calibration periodically. In 1980, it was saved from being scrapped by one of the Physics lecturers, Dr. Brian England, who gave it to his then teenage son Mark, who was a radio amateur and electronics hobbyist. Mark recently donated the oscilloscope to the museum.
If scopes could talk...
Thanks to Jon for the documentation of the 1049 MK II.
