Manufacturer:    General Radio Company (USA)
Model:                    496-A, S#21
Vintage:                 1931
Purpose:                Oscilloscope Power Supply
Condition:            Not Tested

Comments:
Although this is just a power supply, it belongs to the first commercially sold oscillograph, oscilloscope. General Radio was the first company offering an oscilloscope in 1931. The oscilloscope was made of multiple units:
  - 496-A Power Supply
  -
497-A Tube Mount
  -
478-A Cathode Ray Tube
The CRT was made in Germany by Manfred von Ardenne.
This power supply is in great shape. Most likely it was used for demonstrations only at a college or university. The only modificatons I could identify were a few replaced resistors and one knob.
