Manufacturer: JACKSON (USA)
Model: 521, S#22002
Vintage: 1937
Purpose: Monitor Oscilloscope
Condition: Working
Comments:
This scope may have been one of the first by Jackson. There is an ad from 1937 for this exact model.
The tube lineup is...
- CRT 913
- 80
- 6C6
This scope was graciously donated by Scott Singelyn. It was given to him by his Great Uncle, Robert C. Leacock, who had the ham call sign "8OZ", which changed to "W8OZ" in 1927. Thank You!
When I received the scope it had a 2in CRT 902 installed. This was common back then. Many 913s were replaced with 902s because they had the same socket and were compatible. Of course the front panel had to change because of the larger CRT. Other parts in this scope were original either, so I decided to restore and make it operational again.
It turned out that pipe-hangers make very good CRT mounts. The mounting of the CRT had to be somewhat flexible, so it can be bent in shape for the CRT to perfectly fit into the bezel. Should there be another 521 out there, please send me a picture of the inside.
It is amazing that the manual survived as well.
