Manufacturer: SIEMENS (GERMANY)
Model: Oscillarzet 15, S#Y18 Y1-1267
Vintage: 1955
Purpose: General Purpose
Condition: Unknown
Comments:
This is a small, portable oscilloscope with 5MHz bandwidth. SIEMENS made various versions of the oscillarzet. Later models had a knob in the center at the top for vertical positioning and some other minor differences. It must have been a popular scope as it appears in various literature at the time.
A neat feature are the holes at the rear of the housing. At first they appear like direct connections to deflection plates but they are meant for the power plug.
Overall, it is a simple, robust, light, capable scope, surely attractive to many engineers, not requiring a top laboratory scope. It was probably expensive for private users and not capable enough for laboratory use, so I suspect it was mainly used by electronic repair shops. Clearly most of the parts don't have the quality than a SIEMENS laboratory scope but a very robust scope nevertheless.
Even though this model must have been widely used, nowadays it is rare to come across one.
