Manufacturer: TEKTRONIX (USA)
Model: 575, S#1733
Vintage: 1957
Purpose: Curve Tracer, Transistor Tester
Condition: Working
Comments:
This is a tube oscilloscope for testing / matching transistors, also called a curve tracer. I doubt many other manufacturers made similar equipment.
Basically it is an oscilloscope, where you can adjust steps for voltage or current, which is applied to the test transistor and also it displays the reading per step.
There are many settings and ways of displaying results possible.
Essentially it is a fancy XY scope, very fancy.
This unit is an earlier one and does not have the 122C high voltage adapter. There is also a high current adapter 175, which is a separate unit.
At the rear are direct inputs, so the 575 can be used as a straight XY monitor.
When I received this unit, all the tubes were gone, except the CRT. Besides putting all the tubes in, following work was done...
Replacing all capacitors in CRT, HV and Step Generator circuits. All NE bulbs were replaced. CRT filament required a new transformer.
After all this work it was possible to calibrate the unit properly and is now waiting for the next transistor-matching-challenge.
